Camcorders: What is the difference between these?
What is the difference between these 3 types of camcorders and what are their names and where can I get it? 1) http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/sony_cine_alta_f23_camera.jpg 2) http://www.itechnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/canon-xl-h1s-xl-h1a-prosumer camcorder.jpg-hd-3) http://www.philoking.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/canon-hv20-hd-camcorder.jpg
Instead of the places to manufacturer Web sites go – they can give you much information. But … High-level, in order: the Sony CineAlta line is a film-studio quality, $ 150,000, variable frame rate, 1080p, camera. It does not have any microphones or microphone jacks. It does not save pictures taken with some coming – that's extra … The HDCAM SR can be used with it to store video images. HDCAM SR tapes are not generally available to consumers. Audio is recorded on any number of external devices and mixed the sound and "designed" in a studio. This camera is almost never used handheld – it's too hard. Identify a Sony dealer on the link at the http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/home.do you do not find these Camera in any store normal people can get into. Typically, rent or lease this studio cameras during shooting. 2) The Canon is the youngest XLH1 Canon in the "X" series. The first were the XL series of standard-definition camcorder. They are field "ENG (Electronic News Gathering) cameras – professional quality (Although some would call it "prosumer" quality), the DV and HDV video recordings on miniDV tapes. It has built-in microphones and has XLR connectors for pro-grade XLR microphones. If you do not have to (among other features are used by professionals) SMPTE time code or genlock, save some money from the $ 9,000 list and get the XLH1A (or even the XHA1) instead. bhphotovideo and Adorama are good, reputable, online resellers. Fry's Electronics has generally XHA1 a demo and 1 or 2 in stock available for sale … XH series are smaller and more – The XL series can be shoulder-mounted not mounted (unless you get something extra) Shoulder. Sony's competitors would be the HVR-Z7U and HVR-Z5U … or something like XDCAM or HDCAM environment. 3) The Canon HV20 is broken and replaced by the HV30. These are mid-range Consumer High Definition Camcorder with small lenses and small imaging chips compared to the other two. This means your low-light performance is not very good (although it's much better than other, less consumer camcorders is). They capture DV and HDV miniDV video tapes. They have built in microphones and a 1 / 8 "(3.5mm) stereo audio jack. Pro-grade XLR microphones as used by BeachTek or juicedLink (among others) in connection with an XLR adapter. Sony's competitors in this space is the HDR-HC9. The HV30 and the HC9 are the least expensive video cameras available to a microphone input and manual audio control. The most decent electronics stores (BestBuy, Fry's, etc. ..), these consumer cams available for sale at around $ 900. Do not expect Pro-grade performance of these consumer camcorders. I assume you do not intend On the hunt for the CineAlta camera. For all the miniDV tape based camcorders – your computer must have a FireWire port. Transferring DV or HDV camcorder, the DV port the computer's FireWire port is the only way it works – USB will not work. Firewire, IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same. DV and HDV compress the digital video much less than the other available consumer storage media (flash memory, hard disk, DVD). Less video compression = less discarded video data = better video quality … This is for miniDV tape. Conversely More Video compression = discarded video data = reduced more video quality … This is for consumer hard drive, flash memory and a DVD-based Camcorders. If you can not reuse the MiniDV tapes (they are cheap), they are the video archive. Store in a cool, dry place. You do not need special "HD" tapes used in the recording High Definition video. Other things to note: tripod or other steadying device (SpiderBrace, table, chair, camera crane, Steadicam device) external microphones and XLR adapter if necessary (a few capacitors, or stereo microphone (Shure and Audio Technica), shotgun (Sennheiser and Audio Technica) XLR extension cable, wireless clip-on microphones (Shure and Sennheiser) video light (s). Boom pole and shock mount telephoto and wide angle lenses – maybe a Tele Macro Stable lens cases (Pelican and SKB) to protect your investment or additional external hard drives for computers (one hour of imported DV uses about 14 gig of computer memory on the hard disk; about 44 hours of HDV imported 1 gig of computer memory used on the hard disk). I use two 500 gig drives for video project files. Additional LANC are high-performance rechargeable batteries for camcorders, it's much more, but that is a good start …
